Chef Proprietor, Fred Berkmiller of L’escargot bleu and L’escargot blanc is celebrating after scooping the 'Special Award' at The List’s annual Eating & Drinking Guide Awards 2014. The awards highlight some of the best dining out experiences in Glasgow and Edinburgh. The judges’ Special Award recognises Fred’s commitment and contribution to Scottish food culture as well as his exceptional success with the Budding Chefs.

L’escargot bleu is listed as ‘Best Newcomer of the Year' in The List Eating & Drinking Guide, features in the Michelin guide each year and is listed in the ‘Five Best Restaurants in Scotland’ by Pete Irvine, to name a few.

“This is a really special time to be working in the food industry, especially in Scotland, so to receive the Special Award now is a real honour and I couldn’t be happier. With this award, I would like to acknowledge everyone who is moving forward with food in Scotland. The food industry wouldn’t be nearly as good if it weren’t for the exquisite, diverse variety of wonderful food that Scotland produces – and this is exactly what makes our jobs so fantastic!”
